F--social-enterprise-cloud-wordsThe Task Force is pleased to announce that its next meeting will be held at the James R. Thompson Center (located at 100 West Randolph Street) in Room 2-025, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. You can RSVP for this meeting via Eventbrite.

The Task Force will hear testimony from Ms. Kristin Morse, who will share the lessons she has learned in tackling the daunting problems of poverty and unemployment.

Ms. Morse is the Executive Director of the New York City’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO). CEO has helped drive systemic change across City agencies. For example:

The Center also led the United States Census Bureau to adopt the Supplemental Poverty Measure, providing a more realistic picture of poverty by accounting for both families’ resources and their expenses. In 2012, the Center received the John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Innovations in American Government Award.

Ms. Morse has spent her career working on poverty issues for government and non-profits. She previously worked for the Urban Institute, leading a public policy and evaluation training program for government officials. She has served in various administrative and policy positions, including as a Senior Program Manager for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the Deputy Director for the New York City Partnership’s Breakthrough for Learning program, Research Director for the Citizens Housing and Planning Council,
Associate Director for Sanctuary for Families, and Assistant Director for the Coalition for the Homeless.

Ms. Morse, who earned her Master of Sciences degree in Urban Policy Analysis from the New School, is the co-author of Policy Analysis for Effective Development: Strengthening Transition Economies, Lynne Rienner Publishers, 2006.
