The Task Force will hear testimony from Professor James Mandiberg, who will propose actionable policy recommendations to foster the development, success and scaling of social enterprises that serve socially and economically excluded populations including people with serious mental health issues, people with histories of chronic homelessness, and seniors.
Professor Mandiberg, who earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Organizational Management and Leadership programs at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, City University of New York. His in-process research includes the creation of a credit union for economically excluded people with serious mental health conditions; market infrastructure creation to promote the economic viability of “outsider artists”; and the business practice adaptations of businesses in the Sugamo neighborhood of Tokyo to attract and retain senior customers.
